The Big Bang Theory Season 8 Episode 5 Recap: Guys Night In
Sheldon and company came to a realization on The Big Bang Theory Season 8 Episode 5:
We're geniuses, remember?!?
What happened to the days where we invented stuff and acted all smart, as opposed to being distracted at all times by the opposite sex?
With that in mind, with the ladies off in Las Vegas, the man sequestered themselves inside for a weekend of scientific brainstorming and, they hoped, breakthrough.
It’ll be easy, right? They just need to “focus” in order to change the world. This is just like The Social Network, Ray remarks, But Leonard has never seen it. Hey, maybe they should have movie night! Wait… they need to focus, remember?
Sheldon says the group should grab inspiration from fiction (such as cell phones and Star Trek), which leads to a viewing of Back to the Future Part II in order to learn how to make a real-life hoverboard.
But this just led to a debate over the space-time continuum and the proper tense of verbs for past events, those in the future that have not taken place yet and... yeah. No invention-making was exactly getting underway.
Leonard stood unhappily in the corner as the conversation ranged from pigs in a blanket to the word “wiener” to the shape of Austria before he was able to convince the fellas to head to his workroom.
But even this move devolved into Internet video watching (of pigeons playing Ping-Pong) and tearing duct tape off each other’s arms before they just ended up watching Ghostbusters and at least coming to one more realization:
It's not the fault of their women that they are so unfocused. It's just who they are!
Those women, meanwhile, didn’t do a lot in Sin City, except make it clear that Emily can’t be the clique just yet. Penny stayed in to study, while Bernadette and Amy drank giant frozen margaritas, got wasted and watched Australian male strippers.
Best of The Big Bang Theory quotes goes to Sheldon this week: You thought of it September 22, 2007. Two days later, Penny moved in, and so much blood rushed to your genitals, your brain became a ghost town.
