Sam Lutfi Defends "Work" With Britney Spears and Amanda Bynes in Bizarre Open Letter
Sam Lutfi, Amanda Bynes' friend and Britney Spears' former "manager," is defending his "work" with the stars in a bizarre open letter that has Spears' camp on high alert.
Lutfi writes on XOJane (dot) com that so many of the things written about his relationships with troubled celebrities like those two are mere misconceptions.
“I’ve worked in Hollywood for a long time," says Lutfi, who was instrumental in getting Amanda Bynes placed under a 5150 hold earlier this month.
"I am a problem solver, and I care about helping people get out of what may seem like some of their more difficult places in life," writes the mysterious character.
"Over the years these experiences have led me to see what happens when too much fame and too much money can sometimes get the best of celebrities."
This, Sam Lutfi says, is "why you have seen me associated with some of the more famous celebrities when they are in their most trying hours."
Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes and Courtney Love are among those he name-checks, and Britney's team is none too pleased about that reference.
Calling Sam's letter “disgusting and appalling” an insider said he's "obsessed with Britney, and is one of the main reasons why Britney has a bodyguard around the clock!”
“Britney’s dad, Jamie, won’t take chances when it comes to Sam; Jamie believes that given the opportunity, Sam would try to worm his way back into Britney’s life again."
"Her life was in shambles when Sam was with her. Inviting photographers into her house so they could get to know Britney as a person ... who does that?"
"Someone who wants to be a celebrity.”
In recent weeks, Lutfi had insinuated himself into Amanda Bynes’ inner circle, six and a half years after Spears' camp cut him off and most people forgot about him.
“All I can tell you is that Amanda is getting the help that she needs and that I am working closely with her and her family," he says of his latest project.
He wants to "move on from the tabloid sensationalism of her ‘breakdown’ and concentrate on what a rare, talented young woman she has always been and continues to be."
Bynes, though, has grown increasingly wary of his motives as well. To hear Spears' camp tell it, they are smart to keep him at arms length and then some:
“If Sam did indeed have nothing but the best intentions, why does he need go public with it? Just look at the creepy pictures Sam posted in the XOJane story with celebrities."
"It seems like he’s trying to prove he’s an A-lister. What is his job exactly? Sam says he has worked in Hollywood for years, but in what capacity?”
“During Sam’s libel and defamation lawsuit against the Spears family, he admits he has had no professional work in Hollywood that paid him more than $10,000."
The mystery deepens. But we'd sure as heck stay away from this dude if we were you, or any celebrity going through a tough time, or a great time.
Just steer clear is the point.
