Chrissy Teigen Quits Twitter Following Death Threats
Chrissy Teigen is one of the most popular celebs on Twitter, and for good reason.
Her candid - and frequently hilarious - insights make her a welcome change of pace from the Kim Kardashians of the world who mainly use social media to promote the next episode of their reality shows.
On Wednesday, Chrissy tweeted about the Canadian Parliament shooting that left one soldier dead, and her commentary on the state of gun violence in America left some of her followers so enraged that she was forced to delete her account.
"Active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in America, Wednesday," Teigen tweeted during the attack.
That was followed by a barrage of death threats and the sort of disgusting anti-female statements that the Internet is sadly becoming known for.
Chrissy re-tweeted some of the most offensive mentions:
"You f--king c--t. You'll get yours soon enough."
"Wish ISIS would give Chrissy a permanent haircut."
"So how much of a stupid b--ch are you?"
"I hope someone murders some you love, like your f--king husband."
Yeah, it got that bad. Teigen is not stranger to online controversy, but this is a bit different than the time Chrissy said she hates Ariana Grande's cat ears.
That's why yesterday, after complaining of "death threats" and the "sea of hate and anger" that had taken over her Twitter feed, Chrissy tweeted, "I feel sick. Bye Twitter. Taking my talents to Instagram."
Sad that the lunatic fringe won out in this case, but something tells us Chrissy will be a welcome addition to the photo-sharing site:
