Revenge Season 4 Episode 1 Recap: Unfinished Business

Everything got flipped and turned all upside on Revenge Season 4 Episode 1.
Just consider:
  • Victoria  Grayson is now powerless.
  • Daniel is selling everything except his gorgeous face.
  • Jack is a cop.
  • Emily is actually living at Grayson Manor.
Nolan, fortunately, is still Nolan, remaining every bit the color-coordinated, zinger-slinging party boy we’ve grown to know and really, really love.
So, with some very new settings and a Rest Button essentially hit on life in the Hamptons, what kinds of twists and turns were featured on the Revenge Season 4 opener?
Victoria tried and failed to escape from the mental asylum, only to then make a new ally, one that came equipped with a getaway car… sort of.
Using the sprinkler system as as a distraction, Victoria made her way out of the looney bin and headed straight for Emily, fully intense on getting back on the woman who ruined her life.
Her visit was brief, however, as she awkwardly noted that she hadn’t been invited to Emily’s big party and could only muster a few insults before leaving and getting accosted by her presumed-dead lover. Welcome back, David Clarke!
Daddy Possibly-Not-So-Dearest said he had "unfinished business," but that did not include a reunion with his daughter on the premiere.
(Producer Sunil Nayar has said the plan is to “roll him out pretty slowly" over the next few weeks.)
Margaux, meanwhile, finally got Daniel to open up about why he stepped down from the family company. It was another sob story from the character, though this one shifted the blame to Gideon. How will Margaux deal with her half-sibling's latest wrongdoing? Let's hope another helicopter propeller is involved.
Why is Jack a cop? Not because he formerly kidnapped Charlotte, that point was made again and again… and again.
According to this insanely boring character, he has yearned to wear up a badge  since Amanda was killed, with the desire only growing stronger after Declan also bit it.
“Conrad had the cops in his pocket,” Jack told Emily. “I knew that if I became a cop, no one could pay me off.”
In closing, let’s meet the newbies:
  • Brian Hallisay is on board as a very serious police officer named Ben. He’s got a thing for Emily.
  • Alicia Lagano is Nancy, who learned that Emily's friend Jennifer’s cheating husband was responsible for her fiancé’s death. Awkward!
So... what did everyone think of all these changes? Were you hoping David would shock his daughter this week? Are you worried the show will ruin his appearance the same way it ruined Emily's mother's return?
