The Good Wife Season 6 Episode 8 Recap: In Focus
Is Alicia Florrick entitled, selfish and someone consumed merely by her own set of problems?
This was the question Alicia was forced to ask herself throughout The Good Wife Season 6 Episode 8, as a focus group set up by Eli and Elfman featured a split opinion on the State's Attorney candidate.
But it was the viewpoint of one woman in particular that stuck with Alicia for most of the episode.
This prompted her to confide in Finn, who recommended Alicia help out at a soup kitchen once per week as a sort of cleansing.
But when a photo surfaced that made it look like Alicia was cleaning an already-clean pot (i.e. just appearing to help out at a soup kitchen), Eli gave her a lesson in PR 101 and set up a photo opportunity that paid off well.
Alicia saw the focus group woman change her mind and told Eli she was ready to do whatever it takes to take down Prady in the race.
Elsewhere, Alicia defended a college student who wanted her rapist expelled from school. She went up against Louis Canning in the process.
He said his condition is growing worse and he needs a kidney transplant and asked Alicia to look in on his wife if things don't end well.
A bulk of the episode, meanwhile, was also dedicated to Cary and Kalinda.
On the Cary front, he realized that he needed to testify about the tape that claimed to feature him giving Bishop's crew advice on how to avoid arrest. He said it didn't feature the entire conversation.
But the first few prep sessions went terribly, with Cary coming off angry and cocky and not helping his cause at all. Pep talks from Alicia and Diane helped (though Cary learning that Kalinda was sleeping with Agent Delaneydid not help) and the final prep session saw a different Cary as a trial witness.
On the Kalinda front, Bishop told her he knew about the Delaney relationship. He tasked her with finding out what Delaney was working on and, soon enough, Kalinda discovered it was the Cary/Bishop case.
But she lied to Bishop, claiming Delaney was involved in some "white collar" stuff. In response, he called her a liar and told her to put a white card (some kind of tracking device, we presume) in Delaney's wallet.
Kalinda appeared as if she were about to... but the episode then closed with her snapping it in half.
