The Good Wife

The Good Wife Season 6 Episode 7 Recap: A New Contender

David Hyde Pierce made an outstanding debut on The Good Wife Season 6 Episode 7.
The multiple-time Emmy winner is now on board as Frank Prady, the popular host of a CBS talk show that Eli was convinced would win State's Attorney if he ran.
So Eli and Elfman beseeched Alicia to rest the waters and ask for an endorsement. This led to Alicia appearing on his show, prepared for some serious hardball questions.
But he went easy on Alicia, which actually flummoxed her more. She botched the interview and the team still wondered whether Prady was running and purposely threw Alicia off her game... or not.
Later on, after Elfman learned Prady was, indeed, running, he dug up an old college paper Prady wrote that was anti-Israel. He and Eli wanted to use it to pursuade Prady not to run.
Alicia shot them down... only to later see Castro on the news, slamming Prady for the paper.
This prompted Prady to pay a visit to Alicia and tell her he's running because he's sick of the personal nature of politics and he wants to change it from the inside. No longer cordial, Alicia labeled him a "hypocrite" for claiming he wasn't going to run until this paper got leaked.
We'll likely never know if that's the case, as Pierce played Prady perfectly, causing fans to wonder if he really is a good guy or a typically manipulative politician.
Either way, he's now in the race. We can't wait.
Elsewhere:
  • Peter hired his old friend, Ramona, as his personal lawyer.
  • Finn resigned because he realize Castro didn't care about Bishop, only about hurting Alicia. He may start his own firm and he may use lease from of Florrick, Agos and Lockhart's office space for it.
  • The State's Attorney drummed up an old charge against Cary, saying he made evidence against Bishop disappear a few years ago. Cary told Diane he had taken hold of it because Peter had asked him to, but he had no idea why it vanished.
  • But Kalinda tracks down a lab worker and grills her over a lot of money that suddenly dropped into her account. We learn that her cousin is the Bishop lackey that has gone missing. Doing Kalinda-like things (i.e. breaking into her car AND her GPS), Kalinda learns there whereabouts of this gang member.
  • He's now willing to testify against Bishop, but he and his cousin are killed in a car accident to close the episode.
What a great hour of television. We love Prady as a character. We love the change in Alicia as soon as he said he was running. We love how this campaign is distracting her from her law firm duties.
There are so many directions in which this all can go. Visit TV Fanatic to watch The Good Wife online and sound off now!
