Supernatural

Supernatural Season 10 Episode 5 Recap: The Adventures of Destiel

Supernatural literally sang it out loud this week: The series has reached the incredible milestone of 200 episodes.
That's nearly as many episodes as Kim Kardashian nude photos that exist on the Internet - and Supernatural celebrated the accomplishment in awesomely meta style.
At the outset of Supernatural Season 10 Episode 5, Sam and Dean came upon an all-girls high school musical adaptation of their lives. It was based on the works of Chuck, who made a surprising appearance during the hour and who helped make this a memorable installment.
In a hilarious nod to fan fiction that actually exists, Dean eventually comes around and encourages the students’ interpretation of “Destiel,” with the actress playing the characters as a couple because "d’uh, subtext."
The siblings also dealt with Calliope, the Greek muse of epic poetry who manifests creates fro the stories she’s tormenting. She eats the authors of various works and she caused some problems for the Winchesters here.
Before meeting her demise, however, Calliope summed up the appeal of the show she chose to haunt.
"Supernatural has everything! Life, death, resurrection, redemption. But above all, family."
Like we said: awesomely meta.
After this villain was dispatched, the musical staged a moving rendition of Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son,” with Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki conveying as much emotion as humanly possible without uttering a word.
Also of note on this special, unique episode:
  • There was a montage of the show’s title cards over the past nine seasons.
  • At one point, Dean hearkened back to the pilot while standing over the Impala's trunk and saying: “We got work to do."
  • When Dean tells Marie what happened in Seasons 6 through 10, she responds: “That is some of the worst fan fiction I’ve ever heard.”
  • Marie, regarding her wig: “I used this for my one-woman Orphan Black show last year. It’s going to have to work for Sam."
  • Kudos to the writers for mocking their own lapses in continuity/mythology with a reference to Adam being stuck in a cage with Lucifer.
This was an episode for all the Supernatural die-hards out there. And it delivered. Big time.

19 Kids and Counting

19 Kids and Counting Season 14 Episode 16 Recap: Is Anna Duggar Pregnant Again?!

Members of the D.C. faction of Duggar family took an RV trip from our nation's capital to the Windy City on Tuesday's 19 Kids and Counting Season 14 Episode 16.
What did they do there? Could the cross-country trek possibly live up to the previous two episodes, which showcased Jill's wedding and Jessa's engagement?
If Anna Duggar is pregnant again, as she's hinting, that could come close ...
Duggar first-born Josh lives in D.C., as longtime fans know, so he and his family played a prominent role in 19 Kids and Counting Season 14 Episode 16.
Josh and Anna Duggar, along with their three cute kids Mackynzie, Michael, and Marcus, are planning a road trip to Chicago to visit Anna’s family.
Anna’s sister, Priscilla, is expecting again, and they're off to the big gender reveal party, where the outfits they wear will coordinate with their guesses.
Mackynzie has selected pink and is SO hoping for a girl cousin, while Michael has chosen blue, just 'cause Mackynzie had already chosen pink. Siblings.
To add to the fun, Josh has also picked out a blue shirt to wear to the party, while Anna, much to the delight of Mackynzie, has picked out a pink shirt.
The RV gives them some problems right out of the gate, but once they hit the road, they tell us about all the fun stops they have planned on the way.
Both Josh and Anna joke that they are running on "Duggar time," and if you watch 19 Kids and Counting online, you pretty much know what that means.
After Amish country, Gettysburg, the world’s largest coffee pot, Columbus, the State Fair in Indianapolis, and a dairy farm to watch a cow be born ... Chicago!
As for whether this brood will see any more births anytime soon, alas, Anna reveals after teasing us for much of the episode that she is NOT pregnant again.
We'll have to live vicariously through the newly-married and pregnant Jill Duggar (and probably before long, her little sister Jessa Duggar) for that.
Although Anna says the baby calf has inspired her, so it likely won't be too much further down the line before she produces another Duggar as well!

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are still working on that 20th kid.

Anthony and de Lima got engaged in March (though the news didn't go public until just a few weeks ago) and have been dating on and off since March.
The union marks the crooner’s third trip down the aisle, but the artist has never been shy about his hope of finding a forever romance.
"I believe in relationships," Anthony told Wendy Williams in February. "God has blessed me in so many ways. Material things go, but so far."
"Success goes, but so far, but when your house is empty and you don't have someone to invest in – if you don't have a witness, it's almost worthless."
Anthony - who has five children, two of which he shares with his famous ex-wife - and Lopez had their divorce finalized in June and remain on amicable terms.
We send our very best wishes to the newlyweds!

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have twins together and also had a great life together. But then it all fell apart.

The Flash

The Flash Season 1 Episode 5 Recap: Old Friends, New Tricks

Iris came face to blurry face with her hero on The Flash Season 1 Episode 5, while Barry Allen picked up a few new tricks from another metahuman he encountered.
Fans were treated to many scenes of Iris blogging about the “streak,” so much so that it earned her a visit from this masked superhero, with Barry vibrating his visage and vocal chords to keep his identity a secret.
There was definitely a Smallville vibe here, wasn’t there? At one point, Iris came across like Lois Lane meeting Superman, even losing her breath out of pure shock and awe.
But then a different kind of emotion took over:
Iris told the Streak that her interest in him was due to her pal Barry, who had always been trying to make sense of the “impossible.”
Iris hopes the Streak can help her close friend, to which Barry could only muster a “he’s a lucky guy” before sprinting away.
At the hour’s conclusion, Barry asked Lois to stop blogging, claiming he’s put his mom’s murder behind him. She said no. He said their friendship was on a break.
Are you ready to start shipping these two, viewers?
Elsewhere, Cisco totally crushed on Bette Sans Souci (aka “Plastique”) and made it clear just how protective he can be of those Flash suits.
As for Dr. Wells? He was faced with a former adversary in the form of Clancy Brown’s Army General Eiling.
We learned via flashback that Wells pulled the plug on S.T.A.R. Labs’ role in some kind of controversial gene therapy. He was specifically testing Grodd, a gorilla subject for whom he planned a “whole different future.”
Consider that seed well planted. And intriguing.
What did you think of the Iris/Barry scene? Of the fact that Barry can walk on water? On the use of Plastique this week and the teases of Grodd?

Carol Ann Susi, the actress who played Mrs. Wolowitz (or at least her memorable voice) on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, has sadly passed away.
She died Tuesday after a brief battle with cancer.
The longtime TV veteran was 62 years old.

If you watch The Big Bang Theory, you know that viewers never saw her face, but she nonetheless became a larger than life and unmistakable presence.
That voice could carry her a long way.
Just hearing her say "Howard!" was never not entertaining as she let always let the younger Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) know who was really in charge.
Susi's co-stars and colleagues were saddened by this sudden loss. Said Warner Bros. and The Big Bang Theory producers in a statement Tuesday:
"The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi."
"Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show's eight seasons."
"What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann's immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance."
Philip Seymour Hoffman
R.I.P. Philip Seymour Hoffman (1967-2014). He will forever be missed!
"In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all," the statement continued.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly."
"My heart is broken," her The Big Bang Theory co-star Kunal Nayyar Tweeted late Tuesday night. "I will miss your smile. Your spirit is forever with us."
It's not clear if or how her passing will be written into TBBT.
Seinfeld fans may also remember Susi as the daughter of an unemployment officer who ended up going out on a horrible date with George at one point.
Her other credits through decades of TV work include Cheers, Doogie Howser, M.D., Grey's Anatomy, Married ... with Children and That '70s Show.
R.I.P.
Kaley Cuoco
After she was Bridget Hennessy on 8 Simple Rules, Kaley Cuoco did a stint as a witch-in-training on Charmed. Then she bought some boobs and moved in next to Leonard and Sheldon to set up residence as Penny on TBBT.

Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons

Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons Season 1 Episode 2 Recap: Is Scott in Love With Khloe?!

Sunday night on Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons Season 1 Episode 2, the fallout from the increasingly unhinged Scott Disick's hard partying continued.
In the doghouse (or just locked out of the house) after ditching his pregnant partner and kids to go clubbing, would he make amends? Or just make things worse?
We picked up right where the premiere left off on Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons Season 1 Episode 2, with Kourt and Scott at a bit of a standstill.
Kourt and Khloe are at loggerheads too apparently.
When Khloe returned from South Africa, she found herself locked out of the house as well. Naturally, she went to the Southampton Inn to crash with Scott.
They were allowed back the next day, but Kourt wasn't too apologetic, stating that Khloe obviously doesn't want to be there and Scott? Well, he's Scott.
Disick tried to defend himself, saying it's great that he gets "paid to chill" and can actually make a career out of something that he enjoys doing anyway.
Kourtney snapped back that only he would call being drunk all the time a career, at which point Disick yelled at her, “All you do is bitch and f--kin’ complain.”
Obviously, he slept on the bathroom floor that night.
As for Khloe Kardashian and French Montana, who are reportedly back together here in November, they seemed to be doing great in the early summer.
She loves that he's always got a positive attitude ... and let's face it, it beats getting yelled at by Kourtney. Surely Scott can agree with that assessment.
Scott and Khloe have some good talks about French, and other things. These two are kind of inseparable, making us think he might be with the wrong Kardashian.
Consider that when you sit down to watch Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons online this week, in the second half of the hour you will see ...
  • The two play tennis, poorly but hilariously and fashionably
  • Scott dutifully remove a splinter from Khloe’s naked butt
  • Khloe and Scott talk about her nipples, body, et cetera
  • Scott sleep in her bed after being exiled by Kourt
That's right, after Khloe attempted to get Scott and Kourtney to sleep together, he ended up getting kicked out as usual. Khloe was his port in the storm.
Is Scott Disick in love with Khloe like the tabloids would have you believe? Probably not, but Kourtney can see that the two are close, and she's not happy.
After joining them for tennis, she lamented that they don't need her, and that she felt like the third wheel, before driving off and leaving them with no car.
“There’s something wrong with this chick,” said Scott Disick.
“She’s f--kin’ nuts,” added a stunned Khloe Kardashian.
Itchy Vadge
Kourtney reveals to Khloe some of the joys of pregnancy.
Kourt is upset that her sister takes Scott's side in all of this.
Khloe explained later that she was “trying to be Switzerland” and help the two reconcile their differences, and later, Kourtney and Scott sat down to talk.
They agreed to work on things, at least for the time being.

It's far from certain that he'll actually pull it together like she wants, however. We know Scott gets hospitalized with alcohol poisoning at some point this season.
